Machine shut-off nozzles for packaging applications
Herzog’s needle and bolt shut-offs are today’s most efficient and effective nozzles for packaging applications. Whether you are producing caps and closures, thin wall parts, light weight or large containers Herzog’s innovative solutions provide stability to your process.
The single channel design ensures maximum throughput in order to lower cycle times. For example with thin wall applications, highest injection pressure and performance can be used to support minimal wall thickness. Only Herzog has an integrated actuation solution that supports injection rates of up to 5,000cm3/s. This also reduces your overall footprint for retrofits and options exist for machine side actuation which makes an even more compact solution.
Full control over opening and closing ensures shot consistency which helps improve part quality and lowers reject rates. Process reliability can be improved by using integrated sensor options which relay the open and closed state of the nozzle.
For weight reduction specially modified nozzle options with precise shut-off control offer support for physical and chemical foaming applications.

Chinaplas 2014
Over four days, a total of 130,000 visitors came to this year’s Chinaplas. We were very pleased to have had the opportunity to meet with old friends as well as holding interesting discussions with new contacts. It was also especially satisfying to not only see demand in the local market but to have such an international interest displayed in our product range. Of course, this presents us with a challenge to provide all regions with the quality and service expected from Herzog products. As it’s our goal to offer globally the same unmatched Swiss precision regardless of location, we are looking forward to meeting this challenge with great enthusiasm.
Thank you once again for your trust and we look forward to seeing you in the very near future.
Updated Service Set for Mold Injectors
Optimized shut-off nozzle for LSR applications
The new NE type shut-off nozzle utilises an integrated cooling system through the entire nozzle to prevent any premature material vulcanisation. The two-way pneumatic cylinder which is built inside the assembly provides a precise shut-off directly at the mold interface. As with the cooling system, the needle shut-off system can be extended to any required length. The nozzle can be fitted with either a cooled tip for arrangement with a hot mold, with a diving tip for use with cold runners or a displacement tip option for the diving tip which allows lateral movement to compensate for any misalignment of the injection unit and the mold. The complete nozzle is manufactured from corrosion resistant materials to ensure longevity.

New Machine Needle Shut-off Nozzle for Elastomers
Herzog has developed a new machine shut-off nozzle for LSR injection molding. The pneumatically controlled nozzle type NE has a needle shut-off mechanism which stops the melt stream directly at the mold interface. Rubber, liquid silicone rubber and other elastomers can be processed without fear of premature vulcanization due to the nozzle's integrated cooling system, which uniquely regulates temperature through the entire nozzle. The nozzle can also be fitted with an interchangeable diving tip for cold channel applications.
The type NE nozzle is suitable for processing with injection pressures of up to 3,000bar and an injection rate of 500cm3. The improved design has fewer parts which make for easier cleaning and a simple installation. It has been also optimized for melt-flow which results in less friction on the processed elastomer. It is manufactured from completely rust-free materials and is available in custom lengths.
Fakuma 2011
The Fakuma 2011 was a great success and we would like to thank every visitor to our stand for the interesting discussions during the show. The positive mood of the industry at the trade fair was clear for all to see. It is indeed good news that the difficult times of the financial crisis are moving slowly but surely into the past.
We would like to thank all of our customers and partners for their continued trust and support, and we look forward to providing you the best possible service in the coming months.
New Headquarters
New Headquarters at new Location
At the end of August 2009, the machine shut-off nozzle manufacturer Herzog AG Degersheim moved to their new headquarters in Flawil. By moving away from the borough of Degersheim, the company has decided to adopt a new and more appropriate name. The new name for the worldwide-known nozzle manufacturer is herzog systems ag.
Now at this new site, all operations are located under one roof. The new custom manufactured facility covers an area of approximately 2,300m2, and an increase in efficiency and more flexible, faster product improvements is envisaged due to the integration of the various business functions.
The incentive for realising such a project through difficult economic times is that the company is prepared for an upturn in the industry.

Multi-component Injection Molding
Multi-component injection molding can help you add value by enabling the production of differentiating products and reducing material costs. Examples of such molded parts are multicolor and soft-touch overmolded products for consumer, automotive, packaging, and other markets.
There are different types of multi-component injection molding processes:
Overmolding:
Components or materials are aligned beside each other, ie.; from the outside two different materials are recognizable.
Sandwich or Co-injection Molding:
The components or materials will be injected into one another, ie.; the core component which can be recycled material for example, will be encapsulated by the outer skin component.
For more information on how multi-component injection molding can help you, please contact:

Bolt Shut-off Nozzle Re-engineering
A radical change has been realised on the BHP-nozzle type. This nozzle which is activated either by a hydraulic or pneumatic system has the big advantage of a large and straight-lined melt flow channel. Therefore the shear impact on sensitive materials is minimized and pressure loss is considerably reduced.
The core parts of the nozzle are manufactured to cope with considerable abrasion and use the most upto date coating technologies together with high-quality steel. The nozzle can be deployed for operating conditions of up to 3000bar at 400°C process temperature. This shut-off nozzle type can be adapted to any kind of injection molding machine. Customized nozzle tips can be manufactured according to customer specific dimensions. Typical fields of application are: shear sensitive materials, high injection rates and hot runner applications.

Developing the spring needle shut-off further
The range of spring actuated needle shut-off nozzles has been modified by the revised SHP (Spring High Performance) nozzle. The revision concept is shaped by a new spring package which is kept fully away from the melt stream. The functionality of the spring is from outside controllable and because of this the general handling of the nozzle is improved.
Through the reduced spring rate can the material load be reduced and as a result of this the system can be kept open with less force. Leakage removal is taken into consideration by means of a larger cross section. The design of the nozzle corresponds to today’s injection molding requirements. Problem-free functionality at 3,000 bar injection pressure and an operating temperature of up to 400°C is guaranteed. A modular construction was realized, comparable with the pneumatic or hydraulic actuated type HP nozzle.

Future perspective
We are integrated in an interesting branch. The plastic industry finds its products applied in every possible area. Global views see plastic as the most important material. Deployment of this relatively expensive material must be targeted and efficiently introduced. It is the aim of the injection moulding industry to design procedures which make sure that plastic can be applied in all circumstances.
As component manufacturers we find ourselves tightly integrated with machine manufacturers. Our aim is to deliver performance products which broaden the machine’s dimensions with technical and economical advantages. In order to pursue this, intensive, targeted communication with the client is required. Through new geographical adjustments to the branch (new EU-member states, China, South America, etc), the component manufacturers and respectively system providers are forced to rethink their organisation. The development of our mid-term strategy moves in the direction of a global focus. Our aim is to work as closely as possible with the system providers and their clientele.
